The sole of the Affenzahn shoes is only as thick as necessary. It is not cushioned so that children can feel and perceive their surroundings and the surface.

The upper of this shoe is made from recycled wool. Recycled wool has a 95% lower carbon footprint compared to conventional wool.

The recycled polyester in the lining saves around 50% energy, around 70% CO2 emissions and reduces waste water by 20% compared to conventional polyester.

Our insole is made of 30% algae foam from BLOOM™, which has developed the world's first EVA foam with algae for the shoe industry.

We partly use bluesign®-certified polyester for our upper lining. We take great care to keep the environmental impact to a minimum.
