DIY sun catchers: Make sparkling animals from old CDs

What’s that shining so beautifully over there? Are those old CDs? No, they’re sparkling Monkey Tooth creatures swaying in the sun. Fancy making some yourself?

What do I need for my sun catchers?

Old CDs
Scraps of foam rubber
Acrylic paints/pens
Scissors and glue
Scraps of wool

Step 1

Give your Affenzahn animal a face! Paint on the mouth and eyes with acrylic paint and wait until everything is completely dry.

Step 2

Dry already? Great! Now it’s time for the wool – wrap one quarter of the CD around the forehead area in the matching color of your Affenzahn animal.

Step 3

Now your sun catcher comes to life! Cut out the eyes, snout, ears and any other features your animal needs from craft foam, then glue them onto your CD. Let your creativity run wild – every animal can have its own unique face!

Step 4

The finishing touch! Draw on the mouth, whiskers or cheeks with an acrylic paint marker, and your sparkling Affenzahn animal is ready to catch the sunshine!
