DIY: Affenzahn potato stamp

We stamp our Affenzahn friends just the way we like them. All we need are a few potatoes and watercolors. Which friend will you start with?

What do I need for the potato stamps?

  • Potatoes (one potato makes two stamps)
  • Cookie cutters in different shapes
  • Kitchen knife
  • Watercolors and brushes
  • paper

How does a potato become a Affenzahn friend?

Choose an animal and think about which basic shape it is most likely to consist of. The seal, for example, has a circular face, the koala has an oval head and the fox could almost be a star. Cut a potato in half and press a suitable cookie cutter into the cut half. Cut off the protruding potato edge with a kitchen knife and you have your first potato stamp in your hands.

Once all the stamps have been made, you can paint the straight cut surface of the potato stamps with colorful watercolors and stamp them directly onto paper.

Once the watercolor has dried, you can add the finishing touches to your animals with colored pencils. You can easily make the eyes out of white perforated paper with a small pupil drawn on in black and then stick them on.
